Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Buffalo Federation we are pleased to invite you to the 9th World Buffalo Congress taking place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 25 - 28 April, 2010, the year of the bicentenary of our country’s independence, where you have the opportunity to learn and discuss new advances in the Buffalos’ world.

The Congress, which is being jointly organised by the International Buffalo Federation and the Argentine Association of Buffalo Breeders, will have a wide scientific programme to meet the expectations of this international gathering, which covers the fields of reproduction; genetics; meat and milk production, and their industrializations; nutrition and feeding; breading; biotechnology, animal health; buffalos for work; breeding management; production systems; commercial regulations; demands; marketing; markets; regional developments; and welfare animal.

The program will include invited speakers presentations, oral and posters presentations and will consist of plenary and parallel sessions. Post Congress activities will consist in visits to breeding-farms located in the north provinces of Corrientes and Formosa, and a visit to the Milk Official Control Unit of Bubalinos in Formosa. In addition, it will be also organized some Training Courses regarding Reproduction and/or Milk Elaboration, which will give the possibility of being in contact with the most recent technology applications to the buffalo’s stockbreeding.

It is an honor for us to receive you in our country, Argentina, which has the fourth buffalo population of the American continent, being considered its present population in 85.000 heads, concentrated mainly in the Argentine northeast, being Formosa the Argentina province that counts with the greater amount of buffalos of the country, evaluated in 33.000 units. At the moment in Argentina three of the races with greater economic importance in the world are produced: The Mediterranean, Murrah and Jafarabadi, and also the mixes between them.

We invite you to visit this beautiful country and experience the famous affection of the Argentine people for every culture, regardless of race or belief. Moreover, we look forward to sharing days of friendship and fraternity with our delegates and their partners.
